The Last Four Years - We Have :-

  • radically reformed the way the council works achieving savings of £1 million per year, holding council tax increases down to under 5% per year (this year only 2.95%) whilst maintaining and improving services in every area.
  • committed to green policies as a core priority
  • enabled building of many more affordable homes despite loss of government grants
  • achieved recycling rates of 40% - well above the national average
  • protected the coast at Felixstowe, Bawdsey and Dunwich
  • cut costs by working with others
  • promoted community safety and supported parish and town projects
  • The Next Four Years - We Will :-

  • promote a greener Suffolk by energy saving and care of our environment
  • work to achieving a recycling rate of 60%
  • continue the high priority for protection of coast and estuaries
  • streamline the way the council works
  • continue to keep council tax down and improve services
  • plan sensitive development balanced by genuine housing needs
  • do everything possible to make homes available which local people can afford
  • encourage sport, arts and leisure, particularly for young people
  • fight for a better health service in our district
